IMG_1207The West Berkshire Local Safeguarding Children Board provides a range of multi agency safeguarding training for professionals, volunteers, foster carers and all those working with children and young people or in services affecting the safety and welfare of children in West Berkshire.

The West Berkshire training reflects new learning and recommendations from national serious case reviews, learning from audits, WB LSCB Striving for Excellence priorities, child deaths and changes in legislation, guidance and best practice both nationally and locally. This ensures that West Berkshire’s professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skills to safeguard children and young people.

The West of Berkshire ethos is that our training is multi agency, providing professionals with a vital opportunity to learn from each other and with each other; ensuring that professionals work together and share information within the safeguarding process.

Vulnerability, Safeguarding and Exploitation – Need to know sessions

Following on from the successful trial run of “Drugs County lines – Need to know sessions” held in 2017/18, we are now able to offer further sessions focusing on Vulnerability, Safeguarding and Exploitation. The training sessions run by Thames Valley Police which will explain what the emerging issues and trends are regarding county drugs lines and the links to modern slavery and child exploitation.

Domestic Abuse Awareness and Domestic Abuse Champions’ Training

Domestic Abuse Awareness Training:

A 1 day Domestic Abuse Awareness training for West Berkshire multi-agency professionals, community organisations and individuals is now available. This training will provide attendees with an increased awareness of domestic abuse and develop attendees’ knowledge of the effects and dynamics of domestic abuse, types of partner violence, complexities in leaving abusive relationships, power and control and the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people

Domestic Abuse Champions Training:

Domestic Abuse Champions are multi-agency professionals, community organisations and individuals trained to have a more extensive understanding of domestic abuse and its impact. It is a 1 day training which will provide attendees with an introduction to their champions role and support attendees knowledge and confidence of completing risk assessments, risk management, safety planning and support services available for victims, survivors, children and young people and perpetrators.

Universal Safeguarding Children e-Learning

This NEW online course is for new staff awaiting a place on a training course or those staff who require a refresher.
The course will take approx. 30 minutes to complete. To attend a face-to-face training course please contact your Manager/Training team for details. Once you have completed the training you are required to print a copy of your certificate and pass to your Manager and/or Training team for monitoring purposes. The log in details for the training are available on the LSCB Training Programme 2018-2019.



Child Sexual Exploitation e-Learning

This online course takes around 45mins and is aimed at all staff who may come in to contact with children and young people as part of their role. The first time you use the site you will need you will need to register. Once you have completed the training you are required to print a copy of your certificate and pass to your manager and/or training team for monitoring purposes. To attend a face-to-face training course, or for further Exploitation training, please contact your Learning & Development Team for details.

Female Genital Mutilation e-Learning

Easy to access and speedy registration, the modules contain valuable information and insights and only take 30 minutes or less to complete. You should use your work email address for registration. Upon completion you are able to print off a course certificate to evidence your learning and can be used to support your CPD and HCPC registration.

Prevent: Channel General Awareness e-Learning

The module will take 25mins to complete and will provide an update on how to access the Channel process and purpose, identify factors that can make people vulnerable to radicalisation and define the risks. Upon completion you are able to print off a course certificate to evidence your learning.
